Our Lady of Sorrows is blessed to have a ministry specifically for those in our parish that are elderly or infirmed. Our Pastoral Care Minister visits the elderly and sick of the parish, hosts a monthly Mass and Luncheon for our Very Important Persons (VIPs) age 65 and older, and coordinates visits for those of our parish who can no longer attend Mass but would like to receive the Eucharist.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the sick and homebound
Parishioners who participate in this ministry receive training to make pastoral visits and bring the sacrament of Holy Communion to members of our Parish family who are temporarily or permanently homebound or in a senior adult care facility. Hospitalized parishioners will be visited by Jane DeMeis and/or a priest, if that person or family members notify the Parish office.
Anointing of the Sick
The sacrament of the anointing of the sick is administered upon request in the case of serious illness or surgery. During Advent and Lent, our priest anoints our parishioners who are homebound and/or in nursing homes.
FUNERALS
The Pastoral Care Director assists families with the planning of funerals after the loss of a loved one.
